Case: massive, 18k yellow gold, four body, 57 mm, engine turned front and back, gold slide for the repeat, coin edge to the rim, gold cuvette, inner back lid engraved "From the Members of the Assembly, State of New York to Hon. Fremont Cole, Speaker May 11th, 1888"
Dial: enamel, radial Roman numerals, aperture for the months at twelve, subsidiary dials for the days, date and constant seconds with gold and blue moon phase disc, outer minute track and 1/5th seconds marks, blue steel spade hands, center fly back sweep seconds activated from a button on the rim
Movement: nickel finished bridge, straight line lever escapement, bi-metallic compensated balance with counter poised lever, 32 jewels, straight line damaskeening, lever set, jeweled to the repeat hammers

Note: This historically important timepiece was a presentation to the speaker of the New York Assembly, the Honorable Fremont Cole. Cole was the second youngest to serve as speaker at the age of thirty one when he was elected over the legendary General James W. Husted. In accepting the office from the Assembly Mr. Cole expressed "It should be our high aim and purpose, kept ever in view, to preserve this session free from the strictures of merited criticism, and to adjourn it as speedily as our duties, honestly and worthily done, will permit."
