Charles Turi: A Hungarian immigrant to the United States, Charles Turi held a doctorate in law, but never practiced professionally. He founded his jewelry firm in 1947. He created pieces that were classic and highly marketable, with a fashionable flair. Utilizing fine quality stones and pearls, and materials like ebony and coral, he sold to prominent American and European retailers. His designs were crafted in 18K or platinum, flawlessly executed and strikingly designed. The company continues to create with a few dozen model makers, bench jewelers, and designers continuing the legacy he began. Charles Turi passed in 1997.
