Overall Condition: Good
Condition Notes: Resembling 18k golden wreaths, these Van Cleef & Arpels huggie-style earrings feature full-cut diamonds set into platinum, with the design completed by hinged clip-back closures. There is a section that could accommodate the future installation of posts.
Under magnification, one diamond shows a very minor nick along the girdle, the remaining stones appear clean and undamaged. Some isolated areas of oxidation are visible on the 18k gold components, consistent with the natural aging process of fine jewelry.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
