Avg Quality: Fair

Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: This Cartier Santos Automatique ladies' watch is crafted entirely in 18k yellow gold with a satin-finished case and bracelet complemented by a high-gloss gold bezel and is currently running strong. The classic white dial, adorned with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands, exhibits crazing and several hairlines. The signature sapphire cabochon crown has developed a frosted appearance due to abrasions. The caseback bears a partially worn serial number, with "80901049xx" still legible, largely matching the Cartier Worldwide Guarantee card dated August 16, 1984, which lists "8090104920." Accompanied by a red Cartier clamshell box and an outer cardboard Cartier box—though the interior plaque reads "Quartz" and includes battery paperwork, suggesting a mismatch—this piece remains a coveted classic from one of horology’s most esteemed maisons.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group. Type(s): Synthetic Sapphire
