Condition Notes: Emphatic in form and unmistakably Webb, this ring features an intricately executed knot motif, sculpted in substantial 18k yellow gold. The intertwined loops are finished in high polish, creating dramatic light play and reinforcing the ring’s architectural presence.
The lower portion of the shank shows indentations and surface patterns consistent with wear. A horseshoe-style sizing insert is currently fitted inside the ring and is marked Webb / 18k. Beneath this insert, a raised plaque is also marked Webb / 18k, confirming authenticity and gold content.
David Webb: Formed in 1946 by partners David Webb and Nina Silberstein, David Webb Inc. created colorful jewelry recognized for its bold, sculptural design. Webb drew inspiration from the work of Cartier, Seaman Schepps, Faberge and Verdura. His passion for color, texture, enamel, gems and unusual materials brought him to the forefront of jewelry design in the 1950s and 1960s. His fondness for nature and ancient cultures influenced his most famous motifs, stylized animals and flowers. David Webb created contemporary wearable gold sculptures until his death in 1975.
