 Condition Report*:
 Metals:
Gold
Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: Inspired by the rich iconography of ancient mythology, these Lalaounis earrings feature sculptural chimera heads rendered in 22k yellow gold, paired with secure 18k gold clip-back fittings. The chimeric forms, fierce feline visages with open jaws and stylized detailing, emerge from finely worked coiled spiral motifs that echo the repoussé and granulation techniques characteristic of Classical Hellenistic jewelry design.
The intricate goldwork is well preserved, while the reverse exhibits a high-polish finish with surface wear typical of high-karat gold. The 18k clip mechanisms are marked A21/750, and the 22k earring bodies are stamped for Lalaounis and 22k. The Lalaounis signature to one piece is partially rubbed away.

Ilias Lalaounis: Ilias Lalaounis got his start in Athens, Greece in 1940 working for his family's business, the Zolotas firm. He formed his own name-bearing company designing heavy 18k and 22k gold chains. In the 1950s, Lalaounis revived ancient Greek jewelry, creating gem set jewels with an Etruscan flair. His primary themes included nature, science, mosaics, astronomy and medicine. It truly is his sense of artistry combined with the richness of gold for which Lalaounis is known best. LaLaounis is the most well recognized Greek jewelry designer. Outside of the Greek Islands, the company and museum expanded to New York, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, Tokyo, Hong Kong and London under the guidance of his daughters. Ilias Lalaounis passed away December 30, 2013 at the age of 93. Gold
