Patek Philippe, Ref. 1578GM Rare Black Dial Wristwatch, circa 1962Case: 35 mm, 18k yellow gold, three body, snap back, down turned spider lugs, No. 2625771
Dial: black, applied gold numerals and dart markers, sub seconds, gold lettering, gold leaf hands
Movement: Cal. 27 AM 400, amagnetic, manual winding, 18 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and five positions, No. 731745
Band: crocodile band, 18k gold Patek Philippe buckle
Signed: Patek Philippe on the case, dial, movement and buckle
With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1962 and sale on July 26th, 1962. In 1954 General Motors commissioned 20 Patek Philippe reference 1578's for their top executives. These twenty 1578 watches are marked "1578GM" inside the case back. They were the only 1578's ever made that left the factory with black dials.
