He was also a consultant to jewelry firms in the U.S. and abroad, working to revamp their design and manufacturing techniques. He has been honored with many awards, including the prestigious De Beers Diamonds International Award. Hess described his work as follows: “My design concept is the combination of elegance and simplicity with a futuristic approach.
