Condition Notes: A vibrant arrangement of branch-form coral is set at the center of this 18k gold brooch, secured using a combination of fine gold wire threaded through drilled holes and discrete adhesive application. The coral displays a rich range of natural red-orange hues, adding organic texture and color to the overall design.
The reverse of the brooch is fitted with a double pinstem and catch for secure wear. A hinged bale is also incorporated, allowing the piece to be worn as a statement pendant if desired. Minor discoloration/oxidation can be seen to select portions on the reverse. This particular variety of coral is named Sciacca, an antique, fossilized red coral (Corallium rubrum).
