Condition Notes: This Van Cleef & Arpels creation showcases a lively combination of the renowned "big three" colored gemstones, ruby, sapphire, and emerald, enhanced by an abundant array of high-quality diamonds. Both the necklace and the detachable drop are signed Van Cleef & Arpels, each with unique serial numbers: the pendant marked N.Y 56750 and the necklace marked N.Y 37282.

During examination, the carved emerald, measuring approximately 16.00 x 11.25 x 9.35 mm, was observed with a drill hole from prior use. Several of the ruby and sapphire cabochons display surface abrasions and natural inclusions reaching the surface. One round emerald accent bears a small chip within its prong setting, visible primarily under magnification. No significant surface blemishes were observed on the diamonds, which remain bright and well-matched throughout. Accompanied by a signed VCA necklace folio for safe keeping.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
