Condition Notes: This finely crafted articulating bracelet by Tiffany & Co. showcases a sophisticated design in 14k rose gold, featuring an internal structure of alternating balls and bars for fluid movement. The exterior exhibits a soft satin patina, enhancing the warm glow of the gold, while mild scratches and minute dents on a few links speak to its history. One link near the center displays solder joints underneath, indicating a repair at some point. Ingeniously designed, the clasp utilizes a pin that screws securely into place, ensuring both elegance and functionality. A plaque inside the bracelet bears the inscription "Tiffany & Co. 14Kt Made in Austria."
Tiffany & Co.: Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) founded the firm that bears his name in 1837. The boutique style business retailed stationery, silver, jewelry and objets d'art. With the growth of their jewelry interests, Tiffany soared. The company is credited with revolutionizing the jewelry industry by the invention of the open six-prong diamond setting. By 1907, the son of the founder, Louis Comfort Tiffany, rose to international attention for his profusion of the arts: painting, art glass and jewelry. As Tiffany & Company expanded, they offered select designers the ability to sign their pieces designed for the Tiffany & Co. brand; such as in 1955 Donald Claflin and Jean Schlumberger, in 1967 Angela Cummings, later Elsa Peretti in 1974 and most recently Paloma Picasso in 1980.
