Condition Report*: Metals:
Gold

Overall Condition: Good
Condition Notes: This 18k gold Van Cleef & Arpels wristwatch, powered by a 17-jewel manual-wind Eloga movement, blends mid-century French elegance with mechanical precision. The textured woven bracelet and chevron-patterned bezel showcase the artistry of designer Georges L’Enfant, with his stamp at the clasp alongside "NY25040," and the caseback is marked "Van Cleef & Arpels, Made in France." Two cracks are present in the glass crystal at opposing corners, and the tip of the hour hand is missing. Wearable, with caution, the bracelet exhibits laxity at the pin where the bracelet meets the case at 6 o’clock, with visible separation at multiple points where the gold link wraps around the pin; repair is recommended for secure wear. The movement winds and runs properly, though setting the time is slightly labored; service is recommended for both timekeeping accuracy and crown adjustment. The watch comes in a grey Van Cleef & Arpels pouch.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
