Condition Notes: The clip backings are stamped VCA with serial number BL275446. They also bear a French maker’s mark, ‘CP’ (a crescent with a star above), attributed to Perroud, a known jeweler/workshop based in Lyon. Additionally, the French eagle’s head hallmark is present, indicating 18k gold. These earrings are fitted with posts and omega clip backings. Customization of these components is not recommended, as the original hallmarks and maker’s marks are located on the clips, contributing to the authenticity and integrity of the piece.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
