Cartier Fine And Extremely Rare Silver, Gold, Jadeite And Pearl Four Dial Eight Day Lamp-Form Desk Clock, No. 1611, circa 1930's

Case: square four sided central silver case with gilt finish and screwed gold bezels, lower ten sided base measuring 4 1/2 inches across, decorative pierced and carved central jadeite ball form ornament, 9 1/2 inches high with a white marbleized ten sided lamp shade, top set with a 55 mm carved Oriental motif jadeite medallion
Dial: four mother-of-pearl dials with luminous Roman numerals and luminous fancy Art Deco style hands, gold bezel set glass crystals
Movement: mounted in the base and powering all four dials, gilt 3/4 plate, 15 jewels, back wind and back set, # 148807, straight line lever escapement, bi-metallic compensated balance, eight day wind
Signed: base is signed Cartier Paris, Londres, New York 1611, all dials signed Cartier

Note: This ultra rare Cartier Art Deco creation is quite possibly one of only three examples now known to exist. A very similar Cartier, number 1673 sold for a hammer price in excess of $30,000 at Christies in November of 2008. At that time, research indicated that only two examples of this interesting creation existed which were likely made by special order for a connoisseur of the art of Cartier.

Condition: overall very good condition, movement runs, cleaning is recommended, dials are very good, case is good but gilding is worn, lamp shade is good with three very tiny short line nicks, original wiring is in place but without a plug
