Condition Notes: An intricately crafted powder compact by Helluin-Mattlinger of Paris, this piece features a butterfly and floral motif set with ruby cabochons measuring about 2.50 mm in diameter, set in 18k rose gold overlaid on a silver box, opening to reveal a mirror set beneath the openwork top and a second compartment with a mesh grate. Helluin-Mattlinger, active from 1935 to 1959, was renowned for producing refined objects for elite maisons such as Boucheron and Lacloche Frères, and this piece compares closely in quality and aesthetic to those house collaborations. Accompanied by a fitted floral case weighing an additional 27.10 grams, the compact combines precision metalwork with graceful design, showcasing the technical and decorative prowess of mid-century Parisian craftsmanship.
