Condition Notes: If the surface of the moon was bejeweled with precious gems this is what it would look like! The texture of this compact is extraterrestrial. It is definitely fun and funky! Having a cylindrical opening near the hinge for the insertion of a small pencil. The "lip" of the compact is stamped with a Russian hallmark showing a combined fineness mark for 56 (14k gold) and the crossed anchor town mark of St. Petersburg. This double element mark was used between 1847-1898. Paired with an indistinct assay office mark. Minor abrasion seen on a few stones, notably the emeralds and rubies. Interior of the compact is empty, no mirror, the gold having a matte finish.
