    Archaeological Revival Glass, Gold Necklace, circa 1880
    The necklace is composed of 18k gold grapevines and leaves alternating with clusters of yellow and green glass beads simulating grapes. Unsigned, attributed to Castellani. Gross weight 38.06 grams.

    Condition Notes: Deficient a few glass beads. Later associative clasp. For a near Identical necklace see Sotheby's catalogue,
    Castellani: Roman goldsmith and jeweler Fortunato Pio Castellani is credited with riving Etruscan Jewelry design in the 1820s. Through tireless experimentation, he was able to simulate the ancient decorative technique of granulated gold. Accompanied by sons, Alessandro and Augusto the Casa Castellani attained worldwide fame for their architectural designs and miniature mosaic work.
