    Art Deco Montana Sapphire, Diamond, Gold Necessaire, Tiffany & Co.
    The 14k gold necessaire has an engraved ornate wallpaper paneled exterior highlighted by the initial, "GG" , featuring square-shaped Montana sapphires weighing a total of approximately 1.40 carats, enhanced by European-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 1.30 carats, accented by oval-shaped sapphire cabochon thumbpushes weighing a total of approximately 1.20 carats, further accented by round-shaped sapphires weighing a total of approximately 0.70 carat, and one pear-shaped Montana sapphire weighing approximately 0.05 carat, set in 14k gold, signed Tiffany & Co. The necessaire opens to reveal hinged compartments for powder and blush, a mirror, a celluloid writing tablet complete with removable pencil, and a calling card compartment. Gross weight 180.27 grams.

    Tiffany & Co.: Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) founded the firm that bears his name in 1837. The boutique style business retailed stationery, silver, jewelry and objects d'art. With the growth of their jewelry interests, Tiffany soared. The company is credited with revolutionizing the jewelry industry by the invention of the open six-prong diamond setting. By 1907, the son of the founder, Louis Comfort Tiffany, rose to international attention for his profusion of the arts: painting, art glass and jewelry. As Tiffany & Company expanded, they offered select designers the ability to sign their pieces designed for the Tiffany & Co. brand; such as in 1955 Donald Claflin and Jean Schlumberger, in 1967 Angela Cummings, later Elsa Peretti in 1974 and most recently Paloma Picasso in 1980.
