Notes: This pretty brooch not only sparkles and delights, it also may represent a bit of interesting jewelry history and evolution. With WWI still raging most precious metals were garnered for use in the war effort. This saw the rise of platinum as a new precious metal. With the popularity of platinum demand increased and soon a less expensive platinum substitute was developed in 1918 called osmior, plator or platinor. It soon became popular with the bijoutiers-artistes.
