Condition Notes: From the esteemed ateliers of Van Cleef & Arpels, this 18k gold brooch captures the vivacity of mid-century glamour with an explosion of rubies, emeralds, and full-cut diamonds set in exuberant floral form. Each gemstone is meticulously matched for saturation and brilliance, blooming with vibrant intensity from twisted gold wire petals that shimmer with sculptural finesse. The arrangement evokes a jeweled bouquet mid-motion, with cascading gold tendrils adding a playful sense of movement and elegance. Crafted with a dual pinstem and single traditional catch for secure wear, the reverse bears a plaque inscribed "Van Cleef & Arpels NY;" reference number is available upon request. The brooch comes in a blue Van Cleef & Arpels signed pouch for safekeeping. The artistry lies in both the harmonious gemstone composition and the intricate goldsmithing, where even the structural elements are a triumph of both design and craftsmanship—a radiant statement piece that bridges fine jewelry with wearable art.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
