    This lot's provenance can be traced back to the consignor's great-grandmother, Camille Colbert-Chabanais, a direct descendent of the French minister of State under King Louis XIV, who married the last Duke of Bisaccia. It was passed on to her daughter, Elisabeth de la Rochefoucauld.

    Condition Notes: Eight rose-cut diamonds are missing. Unmarked, tests as silver-topped 18k. The reverse has a closed back, completed by pinstem and trombone catch. Having a hook on reverse for the addition of a drop. Tarnish visible on the silver and gold. A significant crack is visible in the enamel. The brooch is accompanied by an antique box marked "Wartski."
