    The lot includes a ring featuring full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.15 carat, enhanced by cultured pearls ranging in size from3.60 mm to 5.70 mm, set in 18k white gold, maker's mark for Mikimoto (Size: 5-3/4, sizeable); a bypass ring featuring cultured pearls measuring 7.80 - 7.85 mm, enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.30 carat, set in platinum (Size: 6-3/4, sizeable); a brooch featuring cultured pearls ranging in size from 3.00 mm to 6.70 mm, enhanced by full-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.15 carat, set in 14k white gold (Dimensions: 1-3/8 inches x 1-3/16 inches); together with a pair of studs featuring cultured pearls measuring 8.30 - 8.50 mm, set in 14k gold. Gross weight 20.30 grams.

    Mikimoto: The name Mikimoto is synonymous with the highest quality Japanese cultured pearls available. Its founder, Kokichi Mikimoto, was an early pioneer in the concept of pearl farming. While he was not the first to invent the culturing process, Mikimoto did refine it, patenting his technique. He is recognized as the master of the culturing process. The need for culturing pearls arose out of the demise of the natural pearl market in 1930, when over-fishing and pollution devastated pearl beads. Today, cultured pearls are farmed worldwide with Japan, China, Australia and Thailand the leading producers.
