Condition Report*: Metals:
Gold

Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: Possibly one of Cartier’s most sought-after collections, the Panthère de Cartier remains a popular symbol of strength, elegance, and feline mystique. It was Jeanne Toussaint, Cartier’s visionary creative director, who breathed life into the panther motif in the 1930s and '40s, inspiring sculptural interpretations across brooches, rings, and bracelets. This classic creation captures the predatory cat in a moment of suspended rest, draped in repose, much like its real-life counterpart lounging languidly along tree branches, surveying its domain in the heat of day.
The bale is hinged and secured with a figure-eight safety closure. The pendant bears two Cartier signatures along with serial number C48744. The accompanying chain is marked Cartier 18k. Overall, the piece is in very good condition, showing only minimal wear from previous use.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
