Susan Berman: Susan Berman designed jewelry for Trabert and Hoeffer, Chicago primarily in the 1980s and 1990s. Her work features large chunky geometric bracelets and necklaces often using lapis, ebony, coral, turquoise, gold and diamonds. She carved rings out of ebony, created coin jewelry and multi-strand gemstone torsade necklaces. She often used cabochon cut gemstones in her bold designs. Berman attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she studied painting and sculpture. It was at RISD when she learned welding and silversmithing that her interest in making jewelry began.
