Condition Notes: A Gilded Age treasure! This sensational piece was originally designed to convert from a tiara to a necklace. French jeweler Edouard Caen manufactured it. Over time, it has lost its conversion mechanism and now rests as a fitted choker, secured with a push-button box clasp. The last two links on the reverse display evidence of alteration currently indicating a fixed position rather than a hinged design like the others. Subtle applications of lead solder are also visible furthering this observation. While restoration would be challenging, a skilled custom jeweler could potentially revive its original versatility, allowing it to transition back into a tiara. Some diamonds display chipped surfaces under magnification, largely confined to the girdle region, given the thin nature of the rose-cuts these also display select chipping. Color and clarity listed under the diamond tab largely represent the bigger faceted diamonds.
