Condition Notes: This exquisite pendant necklace reimagines the timeless infinity motif with a contemporary, artistic flair. The pendant’s jagged yet elegant design is crafted from 18k gold and adorned with 2.25 – 3.75 mm full-cut diamonds and vibrant baguette-cut emeralds measuring approximately 3.00 x 2.50 mm and 3.50 x 2.25 mm. Topping this design is an oval-shaped sapphire measuring 10.50 x 9.50 x 4.80 mm with an open window through the pavilion and an off-center culet. The artist thought this stone to have originated from Sri Lanka, though this has not been confirmed. The pendant features an open bail, offering versatility to be worn as an enhancer, and is suspended by a 14k gold chain.
Peter Lindeman: Award-winning designer Peter Lindeman's workshop has supplied pieces to retailers such as Tiffany & Co., Shreve, Crump & Lowe, as well as Bailey Banks & Biddle. Born in Berlin, Peter Lindeman grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay, apprenticing with a fine European firm. In 1947, at the age of 17, he immigrated to New York where he worked for several high-end jewelers. In 1955, he started designing his own jewelry and created his signature hallmark – a teardrop with an “L” – placed on the back of every piece.
He was the first to travel with his collections on hand, thus initiating the “trunk show”. His popular designs are inspired by nature and often depict flowers and animals, and have also included rough-cut diamonds in combination with polished diamonds and gemstones. His designs have ended up in the collections of Elvis Presley and Chris Evert, as well as the permanent collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Art. The Zodiac Calendar pendant given to Elvis Presley points to Capricorn, the sign representing his January 8th birthday, which is shared with Lindeman.
