Antique Enamel, Gold, Shell Parasol Handle, Tiffany & Co., French
The carved shell parasol handle is highlighted by gold mounts featuring multi-color enamel, accompanied by eight gold rib points and a gold snap, with an applied gold plaque stamped Tiffany & Co., stamped with French gold marks and obscured lozenge shaped maker's marks, enclosing an 'S', on every gold piece, along with a fitted white leather box stamped in gold, with the interior lid stamped 'Tiffany et Cie/ 36 Bis Avenue de l'Opera/ Paris', 1880 - 1900. Gross weight 113.75 grams.

Note: Tiffany & Co. opened a store in Paris in 1850, taking advantage of business opportunities with visiting wealthy American tourists. During this time, Tiffany established relationships with many of the great French jewelers such as Rene Lalique, Henri Vever and George le Sache, retailing jewelry and accessories by these artists. This exquisite parasol handle was probably made by French jeweler George le Sache, who specialized in carving and enamel work.
