Condition Notes: Offered as a pair, these two identical Tiffany & Co. sterling silver picture frames embody sleek minimalism with unmistakable brand elegance. Each frame features a refined rectangular form with a softly contoured oval opening, elegantly crafted in sterling silver and discreetly hallmarked "Tiffany & Co. 925" on the reverse. Further branding is present on the easel backs, underscoring their authenticity. One frame has a gross weight of 817 grams, while the other weighs in at 811 grams. One displays a minor dent along the side, resulting in a slight edge distortion, and both frames display superficial scratches and circling imperfections that could likely be minimized with professional polishing. The clean lines and restrained design highlight Tiffany’s enduring appreciation for form and function, making these as suitable for a modern interior as they are for classic décor. Each frame is accompanied by its original Tiffany & Co. blue pouch and iconic blue box, enhancing their presentation and giftability. Perfectly poised to hold cherished photographs, they represent a sophisticated expression of daily luxury.
Tiffany & Co.: Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) founded the firm that bears his name in 1837. The boutique style business retailed stationery, silver, jewelry and objets d'art. With the growth of their jewelry interests, Tiffany soared. The company is credited with revolutionizing the jewelry industry by the invention of the open six-prong diamond setting. By 1907, the son of the founder, Louis Comfort Tiffany, rose to international attention for his profusion of the arts: painting, art glass and jewelry. As Tiffany & Company expanded, they offered select designers the ability to sign their pieces designed for the Tiffany & Co. brand; such as in 1955 Donald Claflin and Jean Schlumberger, in 1967 Angela Cummings, later Elsa Peretti in 1974 and most recently Paloma Picasso in 1980.
