Description

Diamond, Gold Miniaudière, French, circa 1919
The floral themed 18k yellow gold hinged miniaudière centers an oval-shaped cartouche, featuring a European, Swiss and single-cut diamond encrusted monogram, DWC, within a diamond studded frame, enhanced by mine-cut diamond thumbpushes; opening to reveal: a mirror with celluloid writing tablet reverse, calling card holder, and two accessories compartments; together with a removable pencil. The miniaudière is completed by a detachable 18k yellow gold openwork wristlet chain, fastened by spring ring clasps. Total diamond weight is approximately 2.00 carats. French hallmarks. Circa 1919. Gross weight 328.30 grams.

Notes: Item is in excellent condition based on age. Very heavy 18k gold. Extremely well made. Minaudière is challenging to open. Minor graphite residue on celluloid tablet. Interior metal discoloration noted. Some silver mirror loss evidenced. Dent near tip of pencil. French hallmarks on the edge of the purse, tablet frame, compartment lips and pencil as well as on the chain.
