    Ruby, Gold, Silver Nècessaire, Boucheron, French
    The silver nècessaire features a pierced, openwork and hand engraved lid, depicting flowers, birds and butterflies, having round-shaped ruby accents weighing a total of approximately 0.85 carat. The ribbed lid and case open to reveal two springloaded mirrors, and hinged compartments designed to hold: two lipsticks, powder complete with accompanying puff, a comb and accessories. The matching ribbed thumbpush is crafted in 18k gold. Marked Boucheron, Paris, reference # 875012, and additional numerical series: 507 and 83.393. French hallmarks. Gross weight 512.56 grams.

    Boucheron: Frederic Boucheron (1830-1902) apprenticed under Jules Chaise prior to opening his first shop in 1858 at Palais Royale, the jeweler's area of Paris. The firm’s reputation for design, craftsmanship and the use of gemstones propelled it into the luxury market. By the mid 1860s, Boucheron opened a studio at the Place Vendome, still their corporate headquarters. The firm has participated in every style of contemporary jewelry. The business has been passed through the family and remains privately owned. In addition to Paris, the company operates boutiques in London, the Middle and Far East, Japan, and Moscow.
