    Colombian Emerald, Diamond, Platinum Ring, Van Cleef & Arpels
    The ring features a emerald-cut emerald measuring 8.39 x 6.75 4.69 mm and weighing approximately 1.80 carats, flanked by epaulet-cut diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.90 carat, set in platinum, marked Van Cleef & Arpels. An AGL report # 1082486, dated March 29, 2017, stating Natural Emerald, Origin Colombia, Insignificant to Minor Traditional Treatment, accompanies the emerald. Gross weight 4.50 grams.

    Condition Notes: Stamped Van Cleef & Arpels NY 9801. Heavy surface abrasion and minor chipping evident on emerald.
    Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean fluid lines; capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting", or “mystery setting”. This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richmont Group.
