Condition Notes: Emerging from the perilous Himalayan heights of Kashmir’s Zanskar range, these sapphires were uncovered among high mountain scree and steep slopes rising beyond 15,000 feet in elevation. At such formidable, oxygen depleted altitudes, safe passage is largely confined to deeply experienced local guides. Their renown rests as much on the severity of this unforgiving terrain as on the unmistakable cornflower blue and velvety bloom that distinguish the finest stones.
This Kashmiri example embodies royal blue in its purest expression, with GIA issuing a specific comment recognizing the stone’s notable color. Overall condition is fine. Slight looseness at the center is observed due to reduced prong contact and would benefit from tightening. Trapezoid side diamonds are clean in clarity and are estimated to weigh approximately 0.50 carat each. Sizing beads are installed within the shank; the stated ring size is approximate, based on an inner diameter of 17.00 mm. A serial style number, 1546, is present internally and represents the only visible marking; the alloy has been verified as platinum via XRF analysis.
