Condition Notes: A strikingly regal offering from Tiffany & Co.'s 2012 "Legacy Gemstone Collection," this platinum ring was conceived in celebration of the house’s 175th anniversary and comes verified with IAJA documentation and provenance confirmed by the former director of the Tiffany Archives. Centering a majestic "Royal Blue" sapphire certified by GIA of Sri Lankan origin, heated, the gem measures an impressive 16.16 x 11.83 x 10.86 mm. The stone’s velvety depth of color radiates with intensity, even in dim light, evoking the allure of a midnight sky. The setting is a triumph of craftsmanship: stylized vase motifs, crafted in platinum and filled with full-cut diamond blossoms, embellish the shoulders and gallery with graceful intricacy. The custom mounting, tailored to honor the individuality of this gem, amplifies its architectural elegance and speaks to Tiffany’s enduring artistry. While small chips are present at the table edge and culet, and light abrasions can be observed under magnification, the stone retains its magnificent presence. Overall, the ring remains in excellent condition and embodies the refined romance of Tiffany’s enduring legacy.
Tiffany & Co.: Charles Lewis Tiffany (1812-1902) founded the firm that bears his name in 1837. The boutique style business retailed stationery, silver, jewelry and objets d'art. With the growth of their jewelry interests, Tiffany soared. The company is credited with revolutionizing the jewelry industry by the invention of the open six-prong diamond setting. By 1907, the son of the founder, Louis Comfort Tiffany, rose to international attention for his profusion of the arts: painting, art glass and jewelry. As Tiffany & Company expanded, they offered select designers the ability to sign their pieces designed for the Tiffany & Co. brand; such as in 1955 Donald Claflin and Jean Schlumberger, in 1967 Angela Cummings, later Elsa Peretti in 1974 and most recently Paloma Picasso in 1980.
