Condition Notes: Having a hammered, rustic look that so perfectly matches the opals. Chain is marked Ippolita 18k. The lobster claw clasp having Italian assay mark 958 VI corresponding to Colpo & Zilio located in Torri de Quartesolo, Italy. Most opals are in closed-back settings, but the central heart is open on reverse, showing a black body color typical of black opal. Central heart opal measures 23.18 x 25.25 x 3.75 mm, smallest opal measures 9.40 x 6.60 mm. Moonstones measure 10.00 x 7.75 mm - 11.85 x 7.36 mm, one shows a chip. Several settings are of rose gold. Earrings completed by shepherd's hooks.
Ippolita: She was born in Florence on December 10, 1963. At an early age she was inspired by the sculptures of Henry Moore. She attended the Istituto d'Arte in 1982. She immigrated to Los Angeles in 1983, and after completing her BA in English Literature at Occidental College, moved to New York. She began designing jewelry in 1993 and launched her first 18k gold jewelry collection at Bergdorf Goodman in 2000.
