Certified Gems:
Gem: 1
Lab: GIA
Certification #: 5231100974
Carat: 1.37
Shape: Oval
Origin: Burma (Myanmar)
Treatment: Heated (Minor residues in cavities)
Type: Ruby
Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: We have a remarkable specimen from the mines of Myanmar on offer. It is a very attractive stone, showcasing good color. It's widely recognized within the gemstone industry that rubies are commonly heated to enhance their clarity and color. However, less known is that during these heating processes, various elements (such as flux) are added, which the GIA identifies as "minor residues in cavities" such as in this instance. This method is a widely accepted practice primarily used to smooth over surface imperfections. In this case, it is evident in a small cavity on the pavilion. This lot presents a fantastic opportunity to enrich your gemstone collection or your next precious metal project with a superb Burmese ruby.
