Condition Notes: Burma rubies, renowned for their intense, vivid red color often referred to as "pigeon blood red," are among the most coveted gemstones in the world. They are mined primarily in the Mogok Valley of Myanmar (formerly Burma). The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) describes a common enhancement practice used on Burma rubies, known as heating with residues. This process involves heating the rubies to high temperatures in the presence of a flux or additive. The purpose of this treatment is to improve the color and clarity of the rubies by healing fractures and enhancing their overall appearance.
