Estimate: $5,000 - $6,000.
Condition Report*:
Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: This lovely Colombian emerald bears a spearmint green coloration and displays charismatic facets with slight irregularities consistent with freehand faceted material. Colombian cutters have historically faceted emeralds freehand, holding the gem directly rather than securing it in a dop, as a way to preserve maximum weight and maintain stability in material that can be naturally brittle. As a result, subtle asymmetries are common in traditional Colombian work and are considered characteristic rather than flaws. Shallow cavities are visible in two areas of the pavilion, accompanied by minor abrasions along a few facet junctions.
*Heritage Auctions strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
