Victorian Turquoise, Half-Pearl, Gold Bangle, Carlo Giuliano
The hinged bangle features sugarloaf-cut turquoise measuring 1.90 x 1.90 mm to 2.60 x 2.60 mm, enhanced by turquoise cabochons measuring 2.00 - 2.15 mm, complemented by half-pearls measuring 3.65 - 4.05 mm, set in 18k gold, marked C.G. for Carlo Giuliano. Gross weight 38.80 grams.

Carlo Giuliano (1835 - 1895): A Naples raised goldsmith and jeweler who specialized in Archeological and Renaissance Revival jewelry. He worked under the tutelage of Alessandro Castellani for whom he established a London branch of the Casa Castellani. Giuliano left the firm in 1867 and worked for a succession of London’s leading jewelers including Robert Phillips, Harry Emanuel, Hunt & Roskell, and Hancocks & Co. In 1875 he set out on his own, opening a retail shop at 115 Piccadilly. Giuliano referred to himself as an Art Jeweler placing the importance of art and design beyond the value of precious gemstones. As a craftsman he embraced the use of ancient techniques and tools such as granulation, die-stamping and handmade loop-in-loop chains often paired with enamel techniques such as champlevé, basse-taille and en ronde bosse to create his masterpieces. His sons Arthur and Carlo inherited the family business which they ran until 1914.
