Condition Notes: A rare and architecturally inspired masterpiece, this ladies' Cartier wristwatch presents a striking hexagonal silhouette crafted in 18k yellow gold. Its bezel and lugs are embellished with full-cut diamonds. The carved mother-of-pearl dial is fashioned in radiating tablets, evoking a sunburst motif that emanates from a central demi-sun at six o’clock. A Cartier 5-jeweled quartz movement powers the timepiece, combining enduring precision with refined design. The bracelet features a harmonious blend of five strands of cultured pearls, measuring approximately 2.80 to 3.00 mm each, individually strung on silk and interspersed with gold separators; one pearl near the clasp shows cracking but remains whole. The diamond-accented sliding clasp features a one-inch extender composed of five rows of 18k gold chain, secured with a classic figure-eight latch and supplemented by an added 14k yellow gold safety chain with lobster clasp. Minor nicks and abrasions are visible on the synthetic sapphire crystal, and one of the mother-of-pearl elements reveals a subtle chip near the center pinion—neither of which detracts from the piece’s sculptural charm. The watch comes in a red Cartier presentation box with an outer white cardboard box and red folio that includes a user manual, an international repair warranty booklet, and the "Louis Cartier Watches" instruction manual.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
