Condition Notes: A refined interpretation of a classic silhouette, this Cartier Tank Chinoise watch is crafted in 18k rose gold and powered by a Cartier 4-jewel quartz movement, currently running strong. Full-cut diamonds grace the vertical bezels, offering a tailored brilliance that complements the architectural symmetry of the case, while an inverted diamond crown presents a discreet yet luxurious touch. The ivory dial is punctuated by Cartier’s signature Roman numerals and blued-steel Sword hands, enhancing the timeless elegance of the composition. Minor surface scratches on the gold speak to thoughtful prior use without distracting from the watch’s overall presence. The clasp closes securely and may benefit from a slight adjustment for optimal comfort.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
