Condition Notes: This Cartier Santos Automatique men’s watch is crafted in solid 18k yellow gold, featuring a unibody case that appears to seamlessly integrate with the satin-finished bracelet in contrast to the high-gloss polished bezel, both exhibiting minor superficial scratches consistent with wear. The classic white dial, adorned with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands, displays several hairlines under magnification and is protected by a synthetic sapphire crystal. Cartier’s signature inverted sapphire cabochon crown bears a small chip at its point. Currently running strong, this automatic timepiece continues to embody the precision and refinement expected from Cartier and is accompanied by a red Cartier clamshell box.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
