Condition Notes: This ladies’ Cartier Santos watch is powered by an automatic movement, offering both timeless style and functional wearability for daily use or evening occasions. The enamel dial features Roman numeral hour markers and blued steel hands, with hairline cracks visible under magnification. Serial numbers on the caseback are present but have been worn away over time and are no longer legible. Moderate dents and surface scratches are present throughout the case, caseback, bracelet, and clasp, consistent with regular wear. Despite these cosmetic imperfections, the watch remains an elegant and enduring example of Cartier’s signature design. The watch winds, runs, and sets properly, though servicing is advised for timekeeping accuracy.
Cartier: In 1847 Louis-Francois Cartier founded his business, creating jewelry made of gold, awash with colorful enamels and glittering gemstones. This appealed to the French aristocracy. His son, Alfred joined him, and later grandsons Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who took over during the Art Deco era. The company's distinctive Oriental-influenced style helped create a jewelry empire with worldwide locations. Joined by designer Jeanne Toussaint in 1933, Cartier created a range of vanity cases, desk sets and accessories. The firm continues to produce exquisite jewelry, watches, and objects d'art for a prestigious clientele under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
