Condition Report*: Metals:
Gold

Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: Sleek and sophisticated with a touch of color! This lively Van Cleef & Arpels watch bears VCA on the caseback, alongside the previous owner’s name. While in very good condition, magnified inspection reveals a minute nick on the crystal and a non-eye-visible scratch near the outer edge at approximately 12 o’clock, along with light contact marks in select areas. The clasp is stamped "FID" within a rectangular frame, alongside "GG" for Gérald Genta. Known as the "Picasso of Watchmaking," Genta introduced bold, avant-garde designs, seamlessly blending technical innovation with artistic ingenuity.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group.
