Condition Report*:
Metals:
Gold
Overall Condition: Good
Condition Notes: From Van Cleef & Arpels' "La Collection" series, this 18k gold wristwatch is powered by a Swiss-made ETA 256.041 quartz movement with five jewels, balancing timeless elegance with technical precision. The round case features classical Roman numeral markers on a white enamel dial subtly marked "Van Cleef & Arpels Paris," with "Swiss Made" below the VI, all framed by a polished bezel that bears surface scratches consistent with wear. A synthetic sapphire crystal protects the dial, showing minor abrasions and one more pronounced diagonal mark near the 6 o’clock position. Under magnification, the dial reveals hairline cracks throughout that are less discernible to the unaided eye, preserving its aesthetic appeal. The richly textured gold bracelet, composed of tessellated marquise-shaped links, is adorned with "VCA" stylized lettering engraved on both the caseback and the clasp. The watch is in good overall condition and retains a handsome vintage character while remaining a sophisticated option for daily wear.
Van Cleef & Arpels: Parisian jeweler Alfred Van Cleef opened his salon in partnership with his brothers-in-law, Julien and Charles Arpels, in 1906. The company quickly earned a reputation for using only the highest-quality colored gemstones. Their timeless designs employed elegant curves and clean, fluid lines, capturing the essence of beauty in motion. In 1930, the firm patented the first minaudiere, a purse-like compartmentalized vanity case. In 1933, Van Cleef and Arpels introduced "invisible setting" or "mystery setting." This innovative technique took the market by storm. The firm continues under the umbrella of the Richemont Group. Gold
