    Koehler Clock, Serial #2, First Prototype, René Rondeau Collection
    Case: nickel-plated brass case, 2 1/4 inch diameter, display back, cone shaped feet with back-mounted canister for the C cell battery
    Dial: hand etched black Arabic numerals, black minute dots, blued steel straight baton and circle hand
    Movement: serial #2, dual coils supply power to the electro-magnetically driven balance wheel, in-line gear train, 19 mm two arm balance wheel with timing screws, blued steel hairspring

    Note: This rare prototype clock was made entirely by hand by Fred Koehler. Koehler was a 53-year old German immigrant who had joined Hamilton as Master Technician in 1935. His crowning achievement during his 27 years with the company was assisting in the development of Hamilton's famous marine chronometer during World War II. Koehler was considered by many to be the finest watchmaker in Hamilton's history. The lot presented here was Fred Koehler's personal clock up through the 1980's.
