Patek Philippe & Co., Rare and Important Minute Repeating Gold Pocket Watch With Chronograph, Perpetual Calendar And Phases Of The Moon, circa 1889Case: hunters case, 58 mm, 18k rose gold, Louis XV style massive hunters case, four body, gold cuvette, engraved ornate monogram and 1889 date on the covers, with a tri-color 18k gold chain, No. 80186
Dial: white enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer 1/5th second divisions, subsidiary dials for the days of the week, the months, constant seconds with red date chapter, aperture for the phases of the moon at 12, blued steel double swell spade hands
Movement: No. 80,186, nickel bridge, straight line lever escapement, jeweled to the hammers, wolf's tooth winding, minute repeating activated from a slide on the rim, stem-setting, 38 jewels
Signed: Patek Philippe & Co. on the dial, case, and movement, 179 grams gross weight of the watch, chain is 21.7 grams
This timepiece is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives stating date of manufacture as 1888 and date of sale as June 26th 1889. It is also presented with the original wooden Patek Philippe box holding a spare crystal in the recess. A letter from Patek Philippe dated 1889 stating that any needed repairs would be performed through Tiffany & Co. in New York or Spaulding & Co. in Chicago is also included. Finally, a protective elliptical shaped later-made Patek Philippe wristwatch box is included with the timepiece.
