On her graduation from Harvard Law School and the commencement of her first job, a daughter resolved to purchase her mother and father gifts as a sign of love and gratitude for the education they had provided for her. He was a distinguished General, Thoracic and Heart Surgeon and earned a Master of Science in Surgery from the University of Minnesota (The MAYO Clinic). Assuming a gold watch would be the appropriate gift for him, she visited Tiffany & Co in New York. The Tiffany's salesman, understanding the unique requirements of a surgeon and also that Patek Philippe had designed and manufactured the stainless steel Ref 3417 Amagnetic specifically for surgeons, scientists and electrical engineers, suggested that that watch would be the perfect solution, and thus this Patek Philippe Ref 3417 retailed by Tiffany & Co was purchased. In the father's care, the watch was occasionally used and lovingly cared for and subsequent to his sad passing in 2004, the watch returned to the daughter, the original purchaser.
This represents a unique opportunity to acquire this ultra-rare and possibly unique 3rd series Ref 3417 Amagnetic from Patek Philippe with Tiffany & Co stamped dial. Presented in superb condition, with its original crown, buckle, accompanied by an extract from the Patek Philippe archives, listing the date of manufacture as 1968, date of sale October 7th, 1968.
