Waltham Rare 17 Jewel Sidereal Model 92, circa 1908Case: 18 size, silverode, swing out case, marked D.T.M.C.I. 92 on the back
Dial: enamel, outermost five minute track and numbers, Arabic numbers for the 24 hours, blue steel hands, signed Sidereal above the seconds dial, "secret" signature - the number 92 is below the Waltham signature
Movement: No. 16167494, nickel full plate, adjusted five positions, gold jewel settings, gold star wheel regulator, recessed balance, ornate damaskeening, unmarked number of jewels, 17 jewels
Note: Waltham Astronomic Sidereal models are very scare. They were produced in very limited numbers in 19 jewel versions. The present 17 jewel model may well be one-of-a-kind. It also has a "secret" signature - the number 92 embedded in the enameled dial. Sidereal time is the time between two successive transits of a fixed star. A sidereal year is one day longer than a mean solar year making the sidereal day approximately 3 minutes 56 seconds (solar) longer than a mean solar day.
