    Case: 18k yellow gold, four body, gold cuvette signed David I. Magnin Geneva, 56 mm, engine turned front and back, reeded rim, round bow with chain guards
    Dial: double sunk, radial Roman numerals, blued steel moon hands, sub seconds
    Movement: No. 81932, nickel bridge, straight line lever, bi-metallic compensated balance, straight arm regulator to and index on the center bridge, conical ruby jewels in screw down gold settings, jeweled to the center wheel, broad straight line damaskeening
    Signed: David I. Magnin, gross weight is 156.6 grams

    Note: This timepiece is engraved inside the front cover "L. Delmonico à Charles Ranhoffer Janvier, 1876. The watch was a special presentation given to the chef of the famous New York restaurant, possibly to honor his 15th year anniversary as chef. Charles Ranhofer (one "f") was hired by Lorenzo Delmonico in 1862 and he worked there until 1896. In 1894 Ranhofer published one of the world's greatest cookbooks, "The Epicurean, A Complete Treatise of Analytical and Practical Studies on the Culinary Arts - Making a Franco-American Culinary Encyclopedia".
