    Case: 18k yellow gold, four body, integral gold dust dome, front cover with blue enamel ring and gold leaf and vine patterns, engraved gold floral frame and central enameled scarlet medallion, 47 mm, back with bright red guilloche enamel and gold fleur-de-lis patterns
    Dial: white enamel, Roman numerals, black minute track, sub seconds, gold hands
    Movement: gilt full plate, side lever escapement, solid gold three arm balance, 13 jewels, No. 675 on the engraved balance bridge, straight arm index to a steel scale on the plate

    Note: In 1857 Douglas Lapraik began his career as a watchmaker's apprentice in Hong Kong. In 1860 he formed a steamship company that ran the South China coast. He also founded the Hong Kong Hotel in 1866. At the time of his death in 1869 this prolific entrepreneur owned a fleet of seven steamships.
